COVID 19 INFORMATION AND PROTOCOLS

Leading Rehab is currently able to carry out Functional Capacity Assessments in all of it’s centres i.e. London, Birmingham, Manchester and Cardiff.

We are taking every precaution we can to ensure our patients and clinical team are safe in our centres. This includes adaptations to our buildings and ways of working to limit contacts other than between the patient and clinician.

Leading Rehab is fully aware of its legal, regulatory and professional responsibilities, especially relating to identifying and managing risk, maintaining a safe environment for assessments, whilst complying with government guidance, and in conjunction with Infection Prevention Control Policy (IPC) guidance, HSE information and Government advice, a thorough risk assessment of the environment where the appointment is held has been undertaken and appropriate actions taken to mitigate the risk of Covid-19 transmission: These are detailed in the Leading Rehab internal Covid Risk Assessment Document, which is available on request.

When asked by an employer, health professional or insurer to attend an assessment with us, the patient will receive a phone call from us to arrange a mutually convenient appointment date and time. During the phone call some questions in regard Covid will be asked to ensure it is safe for the assessment to proceed and the patient will be asked to contact us if, at any time prior to the scheduled appointment, they experience any symptoms which could be Covid-related (some of these questions will, by necessity, be asked again on the day of assessment and having been informed of the measures taken by Leading Rehab to help mitigate any potential transmission of Covid, a consent form will be requested to be signed, agreeing to the assessment).

The Assessment

On the day of the assessment, to ensure minimal contact other than between the patient and clinician it is recommended that if possible the patient enters the reception as near as possible to their scheduled appointment time. If someone has accompanied the patient while travelling, we ask that they leave the patient at the reception entrance and the patient can contact them at the end of the assessment to advise that they will shortly be exiting the assessment room.

Face coverings are to be worn (unless medically exempt).

There are facilities to wash hands as well as hand sanitisers.

The assessment room will have been thoroughly cleaned and any apparatus the patient may be asked to use will have been sanitised. Disposable gloves will be available should the patient wish to wear them.

Only the patient and clinician will be permitted to enter the assessment room.

The clinician will be wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) throughout the assessment.

At the end of the assessment the patient will be escorted by the clinician back to the reception area in order to safely exit the building.

All of the above measures are there to help mitigate any risk of Covid transmission, although it is acknowledged that a 100% risk free environment is not possible to achieve.
